Elks Care - Elks Share in Southern California
Our Escondido Elks Lodge has a very busy schedule over the next few days:

Friday — June 18th — Our bar opens at 4:00pm, as usual. Our chef for this Friday evening is our own Exalted Ruler — Diane Allen — her menu features baked ham, homemade Mac and cheese,  a veggie,  salad and a dessert of brownies with ice cream. On Friday nights we serve from 5:30pm until 7:00pm and the cost is still only $12 per. (NOTE: She is fixing homemade Mac & cheese!)

Saturday morning — June 19th – Richard usually has the bar open by 10:30am. We are serving burgers from 11:00am until 1:00pm. Best burgers around — served with fries or chips — still only $6.
Our Golfers are in charge of burgers this week — always providing great burgers and a great time.

Also on Saturday morning — We have invited representatives of the Escondido Branch of the Salvation Army as our very special guests. We plan a short ceremony and will present a gift from our Lodge to the Salvation Army in the amount of $5,000. SA usually sponsors summer camps for under privileged youth in our area — however — because of Covid 19 — summer camps this year have been cancelled. This year the Salvation Army has planned what they refer to as “Camp Comin’atcha” — they are taking summer camps into certain low income areas of Escondido. The gift from our Lodge will go to assist the Salvation Army in that effort.

Sunday Morning — June 20th — Fathers Day — Our Lodge is honoring all Dads who are also members of our Lodge — and is offering them a free breakfast on Sunday morning — the breakfast will be served from 9:00am until 12:00 noon — our honored Dads are free — the tab for everyone else is $12. The menu consists of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, French toast, orange juice and coffee.

Sunday Afternoon — June 20th — Dances are back!!! We are actually having a Sunday afternoon dance — with The Pier Group providing music! Face coverings optional. Our admission price has gone up a bit — $12 each — except those Elks who show their Elk cards will be admitted for $10.
No snacks will be provided — but water and coffee will be available and  the bar will be open. Bar opens at 1:00pm and dancing will run from 2:00pm until 5:00pm.

Tuesday — June 22nd. We are having our annual Chili’s fundraiser!  All that is required is that you dine at any Chili’s Restaurant sometime during the day of Tuesday— June 22nd — and tell your server that you wish to contribute to the Elks charity. Fifteen percent (15%) of your tab will go to support our Elks charities. Take out orders are still an option as long as you tell them that you are participating in this Elk event. Usually the Chili’s Restaurants in the Escondido area led the whole state in participation in this event — so plan now to eat at Chili’s on June 22nd.

Our own Steve Wagstaff, PER is not only the State Chairman for this event but Steve actually started this event and has turned it into a major Elk fundraiser. Thank you Steve — good job!

You do not have to be an Elk to participate in this event —simply ask your non-Elk friends to tell their server that they wish to participate in the Elk fundraiser.

Looking forward to seeing you at YOUR Elks Lodge and/or Chili’s!

Harrison Beal, Webmaster

PS. We will have a Lodge meeting on Wednesday — June 23rd. There will be an initiation of several great new Elks —make your plans now to attend this important meeting. All Elks welcome —light snack at 6:00pm and the meeting starts at 7:00pm.
